Everything Can Wait

Yemaya,

The moon is full and I am overflowing with the myriad things inside me.

I drench myself in blues around my waist and feel the weight of beads against my skin.

Cool to the touch they ground me in you as the tides get higher.

Yemaya,

Please see me.

Walking toward you sideways through the rising waters,

Swallowing fears of the sea because I know you hear me.

Yemaya,

Teach me to ebb and flow; to listen to my rhythms.

Remind me that no stage is permanent.

That even the moon wanes.

Yemaya,

You ask that I listen.

I see my younger self. She says:

Everything can wait.

Take your time.

You are not behind.

Rest. Breathe.

I turn to her and say:

Everything can wait.

You will still become all the things you wanted to.

Take your time.

You are not behind.

Rest. Breathe.
